STUDENT PROJECT
The guts magazine concept was derived to satisfy a niche of design minded individuals seeking insider interviews and critical writing pieces based around graphic design and visual culture. The magazine aims to combine the refinement and finesse of an editorial magazine with an experimental, raw and almost brutalist aesthetic. The cover art was created to further communicate this dichotomy as the sleekness and simplicity of the illustration overshadows the reality of the image, a bleeding orifice. The condensed colour palette largely based of flesh tones plays into this contrast.
The grid system was designed to promote flexibility and an easy recognition of heirachy and cohesiveness while accommodating the aesthetic of the magazine.
